7.5 Essential Air Service Program

Essential Air Service (EAS) is a U.S. DOT program that guarantees small communities that were served by scheduled airlines prior to deregulation in 1978 will maintain a minimal level of scheduled commercial service. At some small airports, EAS is essential to the provision of air service to the community.
