Reflecting the Revised PM2.5 National Ambient Air Quality Standard in NEPA Evaluations

Abstract

This resource provides information on the Office of Federal Activities' position on how the revised National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) for 24-hour PM2.5 should be reflected in a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) evaluation. The revised NAAQS for PM2.5 should be used to help determine the significance of a proposed action's air quality impacts pursuant to 40 CFR 1508.27(b)(2) and (10), as well as when considering the need for and extent of mitigation, for all proposed actions for which NEPA decision documents have not yet been issued.
