Environmental Stewardship and Compliance Training for Airport Employees
Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Training Course
In this course you will:
- Gain an understanding of the importance of handling hazardous materials safely at airports.
- Learn the types of hazardous materials and waste at airports.
- Learn the regulations that apply to hazardous materials and waste management at airports.
This course will provide airport staff with the information needed to understand their sources of hazardous materials, waste, and substances, as well as their potential for contaminating environmental resources. Participants will learn how implementing waste management plans at airports can reduce impacts to air quality, water quality, and other environmental resources, which will also reduce impacts to human health.
Training can be self-paced or conducted by a facilitator. The PowerPoint presentation allows for customization based on your airport’s conditions. The self-paced training includes a recorded video lesson and a PowerPoint presentation. Facilitator handouts are provided below the self-paced training.
Self-Paced
The self-paced training includes both PowerPoint slides and a PDF of the presentation. Students can also watch a narrated video of the PowerPoint slides. Following completion of the training, students are encouraged to take the quiz and document their results. The expected length of time to complete this module is 18 minutes, plus approximately 5 to 7 minutes for the quiz.
The Certificate of Completion provided at the end of the quiz does not imply endorsement of the course by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine or the Federal Aviation Administration.
Facilitator Handouts
There is a handout to guide the facilitator through the training material. Take time to review the materials prior to instructing and customize the applicable slides to your unique airport conditions. After the presentation, students may take an optional quiz, which can be printed out if hard copies are needed. The material can be presented in a classroom or virtual setting.
