Project Information

Bird and wildlife strikes pose safety risks to aviation and the smooth operation of airports, whether they are general aviation (GA) facilities or large commercial airports. Understanding the factors that attract wildlife to the airport vicinity is crucial for devising effective strategies to manage wildlife hazards.

While non-Part 139 airports are not mandated by the FAA to conduct a Wildlife Hazard Assessment (WHA) or implement a Wildlife Hazard Management Plan (WHMP), adopting best practices for wildlife hazard management remains valuable.

This course offers a comprehensive overview of wildlife hazards at airports and elucidates how FAA wildlife requirements relate to airport management and daily operations.
