FAA Advisory Circular
2019
This advisory circular (AC) contains the FAA standards for the precision approach path indicator (PAPI) systems, which provide pilots with visual glideslope guidance during an approach for landing. The standards and guidelines contained in this AC are practices the FAA recommends to establish an acceptable level of safety, performance and operation for use in the National Airspace System (NAS) to provide visual descent guidance to a pilot on approach for landing. The lighting configurations contained in this standard are a means acceptable to the Administrator to meet the lighting requirements of Title 14 CFR Part 139, Certification of Airports, Section 139.311, Marking, Signs and Lighting.
FAA Advisory Circular
2017
This advisory circular (AC) sets forth guidelines for operational safety in airports during construction. This AC assists airport operators in complying with Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 139, Certification of Airports. For those certificated airports, this AC provides one way, but not the only way, of meeting those requirements. The use of this AC is mandatory for those airport construction projects receiving funds under the Airport Improvement Program (AIP). Chapters include planning an airfield construction project, construction safety phasing plans (CSPP), and guidelines for writing a CSPP. Included in the appendices are a safety and phasing checklist and a construction project daily safety inspection checklist.
2016
This standard helps safeguard life and property through requirements for the proper construction and fire protection of aircraft hangars used for aircraft storage, maintenance, or related activities. This is a paid resource available in print for $54.50 and in PDF for $58.50.
FAA Advisory Circular
2019
This advisory circular (AC) contains the FAA specification for obstruction lighting equipment used to increase conspicuity of structures to facilitate early obstruction recognition by pilots.
FAA Engineering Brief
2020
Engineering Brief (EB) 100A addresses the FAA's recent completion of a safety risk assessment of the proposed modifications to the instrument departure surface described in FAA Order 8260.3, United States Standard for Terminal Instrument Procedures (TERPS). This EB provides approval for airport operators to implement the new departure surface for locating holding positions on the airfield.
2013
This document provides the DBE utilization summary of an airport project as part of a project solicitation.
ACRP Synthesis
2018
ACRP Synthesis 93 compiles information and examples that successfully demonstrate the value of building sustainability concepts into capacity-enhancing projects. The report describes additional resources and tools that provide information on how to select, apply, and communicate sustainability measures. The report explores how sustainability efforts often build on themselves, how lessons learned from one initiative are carried through to the next, and how this progressive learning process can enhance sustainability's role in capacity-enhancing projects over time.
FAA Advisory Circular
2010
The FAA recommends the guidance and specifications in this advisory circular (AC) for the design, construction, and operation of an ARFF training facility. In general, the use of this AC is not mandatory. However, the use of this AC is mandatory for the design, construction, and operation of ARFF training facilities funded through the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) or the Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) Program.
FAA Advisory Circular
2013
This advisory circular (AC) sets forth the standards for a segmented circle airport marker system. This provides for a minimum installation consisting of a segmented circle located off the traffic area with a conventional wind cone located at its center. To this minimum installation, other pilot aids and traffic control devices are added as required to meet the conditions existing at a particular airport.
FAA Advisory Circular
2011
This advisory circular (AC) contains the FAA standards for retroreflective markers for airport runways and taxiways. Two types and two styles of retroreflective markers are covered by this specification.
FAA Advisory Circular
2017
This advisory circular (AC) contains the FAA specifications for radio control equipment to be used for controlling airport lighting facilities. It covers the equipment requirements for radio control systems to be used for remote control of airport lighting facilities from aircraft, from a ground location, or from both. The basic system elements include radio receivers, radio transmitters, encoders, and decoders.
FAA Advisory Circular
2007
This advisory circular (AC) contains the FAA standards for generic visual glideslope indicator (GVGI) systems. GVGI systems provide pilots with visual glideslope guidance during approaches for landing at general aviation airports.
ICAO 9157 Part 3 Aerodrome Design Part 3
1983
Part 3 provides guidance on the design of pavements, including their evaluation and reporting of their bearing strength as well as detailed information concerning overload operations. Background information on the ACR-PCR method of reporting pavement bearing strength is also provided. This resource is available at the ICAO store for $315.
ACRP Report
2016
ACRP Research Report 169 describes the environmental regulations and permitting programs to which airports may be subject in their management of stormwater and other types of water resources. It covers governing federal programs; stormwater discharges associated with industrial activities, construction activities, and municipal separate storm sewer systems; process water or wastewater treatment discharges; industrial wastewater pretreatment discharges; and other relevant permit programs.
FAA Advisory Circular
1997
This advisory circular (AC) contains guidelines and procedures for the design and construction of skid-resistant pavement, pavement evaluation with friction measuring equipment, and maintenance of high skid-resistant pavements.
FAA Advisory Circular
2007
This advisory circular (AC) contains the specification requirements for a relay cabinet used to control airfield lighting circuits. The L-841 consists of an enclosure containing a direct current (DC) power supply, control circuit protection and 20 pilot relays.
FAA Advisory Circular
2008
This advisory circular (AC) contains the specification for plug and receptacle (cable connectors) used with underground power cables, isolation transformer leads, and light fixture leads for airport lighting systems.
