Welcome

Welcome to ACRP WebResource 13: Airside Planning, Design, Construction, Operations, and Maintenance, an electronic tool designed to provide aviation professionals with a convenient location to quickly find airside-related resources. The WebResource is divided into seven sections that are located on the header menu bar. The seven sections are described in further detail below:

The HOME page provides general information on the WebResource and background project information.

The QUICK START GUIDE page is what is currently displayed. This page provides a more in-depth explanation of the website sections, project summary, and filtering and searching tips.

The SEARCH page contains an electronic library of more than 600 airside-related resources. There are multiple methods to filter the library to help find the exact resources needed. Clicking on a resource from this page will direct the user to a Resource Detail Page. Each Resource Detail Page provides additional information about the resource, such as links to the document, abstract, publication year, author, etc. Refer to Filtering and Searching Tips for more information on searching.

The KEYWORDS page contains an alphabetical listing of every keyword and functional area used to classify resources in the electronic library. Clicking on a keyword in this listing will redirect the user to the SEARCH page, where resources tagged with the selected keyword will be filtered and displayed.

The LINKS page includes links to other ACRP WebResources and to websites that users may find beneficial, such as important governmental or trade organizations.

The WEBSITE ACRONYMS page provides a glossary of the acronyms used throughout the WebResource.

The FEEDBACK page provides a form where users can leave comments and suggestions. While not actively monitored, the feedback will be reviewed in any future updates of this WebResource.

Read below for additional tips to help you get the most out of the website. A Tutorial Video is also available to assist users with the WebResource. Please note that the Tutorial Video was created during the research phase before the publication of the WebResource.

Resource Library

The main function of this website is its electronic library of airside resources, located on the SEARCH page. There are over 600 resources cataloged and tagged in the library, all of which can be searched and filtered. Most resources are reports (typically in PDF format), but there are additional resources in other formats such as webpages/websites, webinar videos, slide presentations, Word documents, and spreadsheets. Most resources are free to access and publicly available. The resources that require payment or membership access are clearly marked as Paid/Restricted, and each resource page contains the organization’s information.

Filtering and Searching Tips

Clicking on the SEARCH page brings up the entire electronic resource library. Users can click on any document to get additional information on the resource and link to access it. To narrow down resource results, there are three options for filtering the electronic library.

The first filter option is to simply type the topic of interest into the Search the Website box, located in the lower right corner of the header. The WebResource will search for the words you type in against resource titles and content. The WebResource uses an OR search. Therefore, if you type in more than one word it will locate resources containing at least one of the words. If the title of the document is known, this title can also be typed directly into the Search the Website box. After searching, the multilayer filtering system described below can also be used to narrow the results.

The second filter option is to click on the orange AIRPORT MAP button located in the upper right corner of the SEARCH page. This will bring up an airport graphic where various airside-related functional areas and keywords are labeled. The user can click on a label and be redirected to the SEARCH page where only resources tagged with that label are displayed.

The third filter option is to use the Multilayer Filtering System, located beneath the orange AIRPORT MAP button on the SEARCH page. Each filter category can be expanded by clicking on the gray title bar. The number in parentheses following a term indicates how many resources are tagged with that term.

Users should be aware that when a filtering term is selected, the list will update to show the remaining terms that have resources also tagged with the selected term. The terms that do not have resources tagged with the selected term will be grayed-out from the list. The numbers in parentheses are updated to reflect the revised number of associated resources. For example, the keyword “Zoning Regulations” has 38 tagged resources. After the user selects this term, the list will then update to only show the keywords that have associated resources also tagged with “Zoning Regulations.”

Additional User Tips

For best use of the WebResource, web browsers such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge are recommended. Internet Explorer is not suggested.

Users are not required to start at the top of the Multilayer Filtering System nor required to apply selections to all the filter categories to search for resources. For a more precise search, users can utilize the Keywords or Functional Areas filter categories, the KEYWORDS section tab on the header menu bar, or the labels on the interactive AIRPORT MAP.

After the initial search, if there are too many results to sort through, try applying additional filters. Conversely, if there are limited results from the search or the anticipated resources were not found, try deselecting some filters to broaden the search.

To clear all active filters, click on either of the blue CLEAR FILTERS/SEARCH buttons, located above and below the Multilayer Filtering System.

Users can visit the Website Acronyms section tab, located on the header menu bar, for a glossary of the acronyms used throughout the WebResource.
