FAA Advisory Circular
2020
This advisory circular (AC) provides information on when to issue runway condition reports. It also provides language that addresses the impact of snow accumulation around NAVAIDs. It includes updates based on feedback received from airport operators seeking additional guidance to help improve the implementation of the takeoff and landing performance assessment initiative. These improvements relate to reporting wet runway, slippery when wet reporting procedures, unacceptable aspects of reporting Mu values to aircraft operators, using current runway in use for generating runway surface condition reports, airport operators’ abilities to use mitigations to improve runway conditions, and clarifications on using Conditions Not Monitored NOTAMs and Surface Conditions Not Reported NOTAMs.
ACRP Report
2010
ACRP Report 32 presents wildlife challenges that airports may face and the techniques and strategies for addressing them. Aimed at airport mangers and other airport personnel at general aviation airports with limited resources, the report discusses (1) the different species that can be found at airports and specific information that will be helpful in identifying and controlling them, (2) the various wildlife attractants and best management practices that can be employed to minimize wildlife activity at and around airports, (3) wildlife control strategies and techniques that are most appropriate at general aviation airports, and (4) how to develop a wildlife control program.
ACRP Synthesis
2008
ACRP Synthesis 12 examines factors affecting safe winter operations and the prevention of runway incursions by airport snow removal equipment operators.
ACI Managing Operations During Construction
2018
Construction activities can have a variety of impacts on the daily operations of an airport. To address this issue, a working group of the ACI World Safety and Technical Standing Committee developed the Managing Operations During Construction Handbook, which consists of best practices and case studies. The focus of this manual is on construction projects that affect the safety and efficiency of airside operations. The handbook presents a summary of the issues that airport operators should consider in developing management plans for operations during construction works. This handbook is for reference by airport operators, project managers, security agencies, aircraft operators, air navigation service providers, civil aviation authorities, contractors, and local communities. This resource is available from the ACI store for $180 for members and $1,000 for non-members. There is also a short course on the topic available from ACI for $95.
ACI Runway Safety Handbook
2014
Runway Safety Handbook provides methodologies and best practices that can be implemented to help airport operators achieve a state-of-the-art level of runway safety. It provides guidance material for the development of runway safety programs for all airports (large or small) as well as ways to tailor, improve, and expand existing programs. This resource is available from the ACI store for $125 for members and $1,000 for non-members.
AirTAP Snow and Ice Control Plan Template
2019
This document provides a customizable template for airports to create their own snow and ice control plan as well as essential information for planning, conducting, and evaluating snow and ice removal operations.
STATE TAP Airport Snow and Ice Operations
2019
This fact sheet provides information for quick and efficient operations for handling snow and ice at airports.
ICAO Annex 15 cover
2013
Annex 15 contains standards and recommended practices for the flow and accuracy of aeronautical data for global air traffic management. This document is available at the ICAO store for $47.
FAA General Cover
2020
This CertAlert provides information and examples for airport operators to utilize when producing NOTAMs that close runway(s) and/or taxiway(s) to temporarily park aircraft. Airport operators are being advised to add remarks to any current or new NOTAMs, “FOR ACFT PRKG, after the condition Closed (CLSD) is selected. These additional remarks are being added to the NOTAM sentence to better inform aircrews of where airports may be temporarily parking aircraft in the movement area.
ACRP General Cover
2014
TRB conducted a webinar that presented ACRP research on identifying and controlling wildlife at general aviation and large airports. Webinar presenters addressed the techniques and strategies that airport managers can use to repel and deter wildlife.
ACRP Synthesis
2016
ACRP Synthesis 78 compiles information about current continuity planning practices at airports of different types and sizes and determines how they can be effectively applied to smaller airports to maintain resilient operational and business capacity during a disruption, regardless of the cause. Business continuity planning is the process of developing a plan for operating essential operational and business functions in the face of a disruption caused by any types of emergencies, incidents, or events. This study addresses business continuity planning for emergency and non-emergency disruptions.
FAA Order
2019
This order provides instructions, standards, and guidance for operating and managing air traffic facilities.
