Quasi-experimental design

« Back to Glossary Index

A research design that is based on preexisting groups (e.g., departments or worksites in an organization) or self-selection into groups (e.g., seat belt users vs. non-seat belt users). It does not involve the random assignment of participants to a treatment or intervention, such as a training program. Therefore, individuals who receive a training program may differ in their behaviors due to reasons or characteristics that are not related to the training program.
