Social media (SM) programs at airports have also developed beyond simple marketing into savvy communication and public relations operations. However, not all airports have properly integrated the two programs.\u00a0 To effectively assess <a href=\"#popmake-1894\">SMEM<\/a> at your airport, it is important to understand why integration between SM and EM is necessary and why it is difficult for an airport operator to be successful if there are two strong, <em>yet independent<\/em>, programs.<\/p>\n<p>The Self-Assessment Tool leads you through a series of questions that will help you assess your current level of SM and EM maturity, the current integration of the two programs, and the SM tools you use. The results also highlight sections in this WebResource that cover your areas for improvement, providing you the necessary insight to start planning your next steps.<\/p>\n\t<h5>Who Should Complete the Assessments?<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Assess EM Program:<\/strong> completed by the EM manager and shared with the SM manager to discuss whether current plans and program elements can support integrating SM.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Assess SM:<\/strong> completed by the SM manager and shared with the EM manager to discuss any areas of improvement that may be needed prior to building an SMEM program.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Assess SMEM Current Integration:<\/strong> designed for those looking to improve an existing program. The assessment should be completed by the SM and EM managers together to assess the current level of SMEM integration and to identify areas for improvement. Those without SMEM integration may also take the assessment to establish a benchmark for future assessments.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Assess SM Tools:<\/strong> completed by the SM manager and can include information technology staff.
