4.3 Airport Emergency Plans<\/h2>\n

A comprehensive emergency plan can be invaluable in minimizing the loss of life and property for airports of all sizes. Emergency planning should include mutual aid agreements and familiarizing first responders with the airport and the use of the National Incident Management System (NIMS). Emergency exercises are required for Class I Part 139 airports but may be conducted at other airports as part of emergency preparedness. Post-recovery is an important part of emergency planning.<\/p>\n

ACRP Report 88: Guidebook on Integrating GIS in Emergency Management at Airports<\/em><\/a><\/strong>
\nGuidance designed to help airports identify needs and assess current capabilities with respect to using geographical information systems (GISs) in emergency management.\u00a0 The report discusses GIS and emergency management and provides a roadmap for airports to move from their current state of GIS implementation (even if they do not yet have any form of GIS) to the point of integrating GIS into emergency management and coordinating with mutual aid partners.<\/p>\n

ACRP Report 147: Climate Change Adaptation Planning: Risk Assessment for Airports<\/em><\/a><\/strong>
\nProvides guidance for practitioners to understand the specific impacts climate change may have on their airports. The guidebook may help practitioners develop adaptation actions and incorporate those actions into the airport\u2019s planning processes.<\/p>\n
