With a program in place and some common use initiatives implemented, you are ready for Chapters 9 and 10, which describe the final elements needed for a holistic common use program: management and sustainability of the program, as shown in Figure 5.

This section describes these elements, specifically the management activities of governance alignment, implementation, support, and evaluation. It also includes the sustainability items of strengthening collaboration among stakeholders for mutual benefit, growing the size of the common use footprint for greater efficiency, expanding the capabilities of the program through the incorporation of innovation, and engaging with industry associations for continued learning and collaboration.
